La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Birmingham Homewood

This was perhaps the best value of any hotel during a recent 25 day driving trip. Highly recommended if you are doing a civil rights tour downtown, as I did. The freeway is too far away for disruptive noise but right there for easy access. It was only 5 miles to the downtown exit and with flowing traffic even at 9 AM. This La Quinta is located on a quiet and convenient access road. My only problem was not being able to resist Whataburger, less than a mile away. We don't have Whataburger in Miami. The hotel rooms were top notch for the price. Television channel selection very good. I often get annoyed in southern states when only Fox and similar are available, due to intentional editing of the channel lineup. That was not the case here. A great feature is an auxiliary door on the left side of the hotel. That makes it much easier to transport items to and from your car, especially since the hotel supplies three large dollies just inside that door.

Location is very convenient, I could hear other guests when they were loud, but the nearby highway isn't an issue. My room was spacious, the bed was on the more comfortable side, pillows were pretty decent. Especially considering the price, I think it's a pretty good deal. Unless you prefer carb loading the breakfast isn't grear, and the toaster is half broken but not marked as such. The only protein available is low fat yogurt. But the food all seemed to be pretty decent quality.

Great stay! Room is large. Lighting is unique and bright. I like that the room is bright and nicely decorated. Bed is comfortable with the right degree of firmness. Pillows are soft and supportive. I like that Dove products for shampoo and conditioner are used. Overall a great stay. CONS: Breakfast is adequate but the hot portions go quickly and are not filled quickly. If you’re not downstairs by 0700, at 0800 you will only have a continental breakfast.

Only stayed for a night but check in was super easy and front staff was friendly. The room was cozy, clean, and very warm. In the morning, I had a bagel, eggs, sausage, and a bit of cereal for breakfast. They also have muffins, waffles, and yogurt available. Overall we spent less than $70 for a nice place to sleep in and a nice breakfast to wake up to. Would stay here again.

I have stayed at this hotel for several days during each of the last four years, and have always had a good experience. Unfortunately, since my visit one year ago, they have switched WiFi providers. Connection is still easy, and the network speed is good, but the new ISP is blocking the use of VPN connections. Anyone who needs a VPN for security should choose a different hotel. I have never before stayed at a hotel with a WiFi VPN block, so this came as a real surprise. Otherwise, it is a very nice place to stay.

We've stayed at this hotel several times now as it's the halfway point on a journey we do a couple of times a year. We love LaQuinta for its pet friendliness and affordable rates. We don't want or need a lot of luxuries for a simple overnight stay. The rooms have recently been remodeled and they're very nice. Breakfast is a nice perk, but it's not really anything special. Some La Quinta locations used to serve eggs, sausage/bacon, biscuits and gravy before the pandemic. Now, it's mostly just bagels, bread for toast, yogurt and make-your-own waffles. If you're looking for protein, you won't find much here. We like to get up early and get back on the road, and have often just said "we'll get breakfast elsewhere" rather than get it at the hotel.

I was just passing through & at last minute deceided to grab a room. Like most people I checked prices online, only to find that in-house prices were the cheapest skipping the middle man. I was beyond exhausted & this was the MOST hastle free booking that I have EVER had. Booked a simple room, no frills, just needed a bed for a few hours. The free breakfast in the morning was simple, yet very much appreciated. The room was clean, the bathroom was spotless. I could not have asked for anything more. I just needed a quite place to sleep. On this day, I was in town to pick up a semi truck & trailer to tow back home to Jacksonville FL. There was a seperate lot where I was able to park my rig which at the time was over 100ft long. I have to point out that this lot was not associated with the hotel & I did walk about 20mins but I was fine with that. For a last minute booking, this was exactly what I needed & wanted. Simple.

I have stayed at this La Quinta Homewood twice, in the past couple of months. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathroom has good water pressure with hot water. The bedding is perfect with good mattresses & pillows. The location is extremely accessible and is located near a lot of good restaurants and shopping areas. The staff is always remarkable and friendly. I like staying at the La Quintas because they are pet friendly and charge a reasonable price for the pet. I find the prices for La Quintas as a whole to be extremely reasonable. The rooms are accessed through the lobby with an inside entrance, which is a plus for safety, as I travel by myself. The parking lot is free and easy, well lit with good outside lighting. They usually put me in a convenient room located near an outside exit, so I can take my pup out as necessary. I have not taken advantage of the breakfast provided but it would appear to be of good quality. I will continue to stay as the La Quinta in Homewood when I am back in Birmingham. My next trip will be in April.
